Hair relaxers are used to make hair more manageable and easier to straighten. They often rely on harsh chemicals to do this. These chemicals may include cyclosiloxanes, diethanolamine (DEA), formaldehyde, parabens and phthalates. Scientists have found that frequent users of hair relaxers have an increased risk of uterine and overian cancers.
Several studies, including the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Sister Study, have found links between hair relaxer use and two types of cancer: ovarian and uterine.
We are currently investigating reports of ovarian and uterine cancer related to use of hair relaxer products. Some products have been linked to these cancers. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with ovarian or uterine cancer and used hair relaxers regularly, we would like to speak with you regarding your potential case.
